The location is amazing, right on the
Water's edge with views of Mount Fuji. The staff were kind. The shuttle service could be improved with more clear information for non-Japanese speakers, as it was a bit confusing at first.

Location: the hotel was near to the Fuji mountain, the lake tucked away from the main hustle and bustle and buses, cable ride and boat. The breakfast was very very good and offered a wide range of well presented food.

The location was stunning and fantastic, for example, Petting Zoo was at a moderate distance from the hotel. All the stores and a bakery were right next door...

The Prince Hakone is in a beautiful location, and the rooms are elegantly designed. The added touch of a CD with relaxing music in the room made the experince even more enjoyable. The staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the Prince Hakone to any I knew visiting Japan, and would stay there again should we ever return.

We really enjoy the out-door hot spring bath and the beautifull scenery of lake and mountains.
We were very disappointed with the Japanese restaurant dinner's main courses. The portion is about a quarter of what should have been served as a main course. My husband had an appetizer, rice+soup, and a main course. He is not a big eater, but since the portions are so small, as for serving little children, he got hungry within couple hours. It is ok to pay more money for good food as long as it fills you up, and you wouldn't be getting up in middle of the night because you're feeling hungry.

I really liked how spacious and comfortable our room and the hotel was. The facilities provided were very good, we enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel and the open air spa was really lovely with very good amenities provided for guests. The setting of the hotel was also very lovely to look around.
However, we're not going to recommend The Prince Hakone to other people unless they have their own car. The big issue for us was having enough time to get around Hakone to see the sights and only having 2 nights was not enough when the bus transport to The Prince Hakone starts late in the morning and ends by the late afternoon unless we get a taxi every evening, which costs at least 1000 yen each time. If the hotel can work around to help travellers with this issue, let's say by providing a shuttle bus every hour just until 8 or 9 pm from a central location nearby where the public buses are more frequent, I think it would be a huge improvement for The Prince Hakone over anything else they can provide.

The hotel was very comfortable in a beautiful location. There was a walk from the hotel to the end of the lake which we enjoyed and a boat service to Hokone Machi. We walked from there through the Check-point to some lovely gardens. A relaxing place to stay after a hectic holiday in Japan.
The restaurants were very very expensive. The hotel provided a shuttle a Chinese restaurant, about 3mins away where the food was cheaper but not inspiring at all.We felt rather cut off as the last boat from Hakone left at 4pm. If you were wanting a Japanese experience this hotel would not give you that. It has an international feel.
